Four of Michael’s friends from elementary school have organized as their Mitzvah Projects: ‘Hoops for Healthy Hearts,’ a basketball fundraiser to increase awareness about the Foundation and to aid in the prevention of similar tragedies.
More than 100 local middle school and elementary school youngsters registered to attend the event at the Hooperstown Sports Facility in Mount Vernon on October 2, 2011. ‘Hoops’ participants were treated to a variety of games, contests, and prizes along with a bake sale while learning from the medical community of how the event raised funds for important research.
We wish to thank Hooperstown for generously providing the venue for this wonderful event and for helping to organize the games and contests. We are especially grateful to Sam, Josh, Ben, and Jared for coming up with this special way to honor their friend’s memory in what would have been his Bar Mitzvah year.
